When I started this thread five years ago, I mentioned I was S L O W L Y completing the basic set. And that continues to be true. I just completed another puzzle (Puzzle 9, The Washington Senators) and am only FOUR cards away from the 36 card basic set. Originally I planned on chasing Puzzle 8 instead of Puzzle 9 (since they share the exact same backs), and can't even remember why I switched, but I'm getting close.

The remaining four cards I need are in Puzzle 1. And the good thing is that none of them are short printed. I do have a few of the short prints that were needed to complete the basic set in the manner I wanted, and I can confirm that they are getting harder and harder to find at reasonable prices.

I'll probably take my time (as usual) picking up the last four cards. And now I'm considering maybe chasing the rest of the puzzles which would double the set size to 72. But I still have NO desire to chase the master set....because I'd have to chase down the rest of the short prints AND three more Ruth cards. That doesn't sound like much fun to me

I'll post an update after I get my remaining four cards....probably in another year or two

Here's a couple pics of my latest puzzle (back then front). I like the puzzles, but I also like the way all the card fronts look when put together....little grids of vintage ball players!
