Looking at the differences in grading of HOF players vs. common players with Pat's great list in the original post in another way, 66 of the 69 most frequently graded cards are Hall of Fame players. The three non-HOF players amongst the 69 are two different cards of Chase (both part of the super print group), and Gandil, a Black Sox player.

Pat, thanks for digging this out. i missed this the first time around. I am surprised by a few things here:

1. elberfeld W port seems like it should be lower count than where it shows up.
2. lundgren Chi actually is higher than lundgren KC!

both are likely a matter of them being known rarities hence they will get graded more than a typical common....but that doesn't explain lundgren KC so high.

As a Hoosier, I didn't know that Monte Cross only had 4 different backs. Seeing as I'm looking to get 1 card of all the Indianapolis Indians in the T206 set, completing the run for Monte Cross in all 4 backs doesn't seem that daunting of a task.

The Piedmont and the two Sweet Caporals would be no problem but the Tolstoi would be nearly impossible.

The Monte Cross Tolstoi generally sells in the $10K+ range.

$10K would be a bargain, given REA sold the SGC 2.5 Cross Tolstoi on August 17th, 2025 for $33,600!

A job well done!!!

It is interesting to see that some of the cards that are considered tougher to find like Lundgren, have a lower pop report on the KC version that the perceived tougher Chicago version. The same also seems true on the Smith cards.

Thanks for the work, Pat

Lee
