Please forgive my boxing fan nerd brain for that one. It was actually a literary reference to sportswriter Frank Menke's description of the 1923 Dempsey-Firpo fight. He called it "the greatest fight since the Silurian Age". The two fighters combined for 11 knockdowns, with Firpo knocking Dempsey out of the ring in the first round before Dempsey rallied to win by knockout in the second. This fight is widely considered one of the most dramatic and exciting in boxing history and is often used to describe an event of unparalleled ferocity and non-stop action. I was making a tongue-in-cheek (very) obscure reference to what it was like when I got that Greenberg premium: non-stop and ferocious hunting and buying because this sort of stuff was all over the place and affordable.
