One thing that I will say is that I wouldn't have even minded if the prices stayed in line with inflation. I'll use my example of DiMaggio again for the sake of this argument, because I believe back in the day, he was charging the most.
I found an older post on here, stating that DiMaggio back in 1994 was charging $150 for his signings. If we plug that into an inflation calculator we're looking at roughly a modern day price of $326. Now, regardless of how you feel about him, he was widely considered at one point, the Greatest Living Player and was honored as such. If Derek Jeter was charging $350 for his signings, I think that would be reasonable. The problem is reasonability has gone out the window, and some athletes are charging 2-3 times that.
