Duly note that I'm not an active card collector, but 'know what I like.' There are so many good possibilites, and I often highlighted John's and Leon's choices. Multiple choices included, so Jay can pick and choose as he deems fit

Set: 1912 Boston Garters. If there is instead a particularly deseving single from this set, that's fine too.

I think there should be a special, though limited, Hall of Fame section for truely deserving sets, especially sets where a particular card does not stand out (i.e. minor league set with no stars)

David, I do not make the selections for the basbeall card HOF. It is voted on by all of us. Right now is just the nominating process. In a week or so we will have an actual vote.

As for cards that you can vote for, it does not ahve to be a HOfer, just a certain card that you think looks really cool or has some special appeal to you.

A few more

1888 S.F. Hess California League N321 Set (the colorful lithographed version). In my mind, the most beautiful known tobacco cards. And pretty dang hard (though not impossible) to find.

Turkey Red 'Cabinet' Walter Johnson (with Capital building in background). Never been a huge fan on the T3s, but this one stands out for my taste

1923 Maple Crispette Casey Stengel. I recently overheard someone say, "It took me two years, but the only card I need to finish my Crispette set is the Stengel. That should be an easy one"

E90-1 Mitchell (that's the rare one, right?). Let's hear one for the little guy.

Yum Yum Billy Sullivan (Port.). The Tommy John of tobacco cards: 2 errors in one play! Actually, Tommy once had three errors on one play-- which takes no ordinary skill.

Special Mention: 1888-9 Sporting Times M117. People love rarities, but these are so hard to find people don't even think about them. Even the collectors on this board mention hens' teeth more often than these cards.

why did you pick the T3 Walter Johnson? I just bought one, and I find it very disappointing--his face. According to the T206s and the photographic cards, he was very handsome. The T3 has a little boy's face. Just can't understand it!

but the face is quite different. The T206 shows him with very handsome, regular feautures; the T3 shows him with a button nose, and sort of nothing features--wish it didn't. cause I just bought it!

I still like the Old Judge card/cabinet of Ewing with the Mascott
Also (if it didn't make it last time) I like the Shoeless Joe Cracker Jack ('14 or '15)
And of course the T202 Cobb/Jennings with the mous Conlon Photo in the the center -- actually I wanted to paste a scan of it in here but I forgot how.
I'll go with the '41 Play ball of Joe DiMaggio.
I think I may have missed a category but I'll take care of it next time I vote (I'm from Chicago so I expect to vote at least one more time).
