I won at minimum bid (even though my max was much higher) an extremley rare and desirable modern photograph by a noted photographer because the seller mispelled the name and, apparently, no else noticed it. After I got the photo, I asked the seller how he aquired it as I'd never seen another offered for sale and the seller specialized in antique furnature. He said the photographer skipped the country leaving behind his stuff in his unpaid for appartment. To recoup the back rent, the photographer's effects were auctioned off. The seller frequented these types of auctions and won the lot. |
