T206 American Beauty Question?

Art brought up the fact that the Lajoie batting pose could not come with the frame. I now that the 350 series comes with and without frames, but how and why are some framed and some not. Why wasn't this also used in the 460 series.

Here is the break down on T206 cards with American beauty backs:

350 series only cards - these come only with American beauty 350 WITH FRAME backs. All of the minor league players fall into this category.

350/460 and 460 series cards - these come only with American beauty 350 NO FRAME and 460 NO FRAME backs. Of course, all of the 460 backs have NO FRAME.

Seems like the American beauty backs were re-designed after the 350 series was issued and the frame line around the back was removed. All of the cards issued in the last series should be found without the frame line.

The only 2 exceptions that I have ever come across are:

Cobb (red portrait) - issued in both the 350 and 460 series. I own this card with the American Beauty 350 WITH FRAME back. I have never seen this card with an American Beauty NO FRAME back.

Nichols (batting) - this card was only thought to be a 350 series card, but I have this card with American Beauty 350 NO FRAME back.

Thanks for the information on the T206 American Beauty backs. I have 25 cards with American Beauty backs. 21 of the cards have "no frame" and they are from the 350/460 series, except one, the Nichols (Batting). The 4 cards that have a "frame" are all from the 350 series. This is what makes T206's so much fun. http://www.freewebs.com/bb5714/index.htm

I was just wondering which Hall of Famers you guys have with any American Beauty back whether its 350 or 460?

I find that certain Hofs are definitely more common than others.

Its hard to tell whether or not you see more cobbs with the american beauty because they are worth more and therefore generate more activity on the market or if they are simply more common.

I also have a griffith w/ bat and a bresnahan w/bat.
I've seen several (relative) mcginnitys, chases, and jennings with the same poses come up.

I also have cobb (bat off), cobb (red), bender (no trees).

I havn't seen many eddie collins with amer.beauty. that's nice!
