The illustration is from an 1894 Sporting Life (also in this auction) so it is 6 or 7 years later. I thought that the droopy eyes, ears that stick out, roman nose, chin, and small mouth, were dead ringers. The uniform is definitely browns and dates from the right period. I think that it would be quite a coincidence to have somebody with so many similar features on the same team. |
