Default Getting Back to the basics?

Posted By: John

Thanks for the many of you who posted pictures. The cards are amazing. John you just keep rubbing salt in that open missing Magie wound don’t you!

Some of you guys are missing my point not unlike the point Chris made. I had a post not to long ago called “So what’s your story?” many of you told your stories on how you began collecting and what you love about it. What I find funny is we can get threads, which can beat a dead horse to the tune of several 100 posts, but we can only scrape together a hand full of guys who want to tell how they started collecting.

This is the Network 54 Vintage Baseball Card Forum. I would say in my opinion that the majority of the posts have some background regarding vintage material but bring very little to the table.

You’re right this is a board used for educational purposes. Many of the board members here are true experts in their own rights and I stress this many are just not. It’s amazing to me how many times I have read through a post and had a hard time deciphering between fact and pure fiction, and I’ve been collecting for over 20yrs. Your also right you can skip threads, but when you have to read 100 snappy slam posts with little or nothing to due with the thread just to get an idea of the posts topic. I think that’s bad for all the members.

This is a perfect example I made a point and asked in a not so direct way to share some stories and photos with the rest of us. Already it’s starting to go a little off topic and ramble. When you guys beat each other up not pointing any fingers it has to scare off potential posters with opinions, questions, stories and photos. I’m sure there are many lurkers here who would love to chime in but see the un-friendly waters and decide not to swim.

Getting back to the basics wasn’t saying walk away from heated discussions I’ve been involved in those as well. It was more lets not forget our roots and some of the fun stuff like pictures and stories, that’s a safe topic where everyone can participate.

Once again thanks for the pictures. You guys are pulling ot all the stops wow!
