you might also want to try expanding beyond the Montreal area in terms of contacting card shops, pawn shops, etc. Obviously driving to all of them would be difficult if not impossible, but maybe even just a phone call could make the difference.

I say this because it was a valuable enough collection that if the thief was smart, they might realize it would be pretty stupid to try and sell the cards too close by, figuring you'd put the word out - just a suggestion...
