Default I need old (1980's-90's) Baseball Card Price Guides

Posted By: jay behrens

The thing to remember is that when price guides were first coming out, the long time hobbyists were kids in the 30s. Like most people, you are going to focus on cards from when you were a kid first. Thus, Goudeys and other 30s sets carried hefty price tags in the 70s and early 80s. Once the baby bommers hit the market, 50s and 60s cards took off. The mid to late 80s when the vintage market, and t206s in particular took off. The huge spike t206s can be attributed to Jim Copeland paying double what was considered the going rate and prices moved right up along with increasing desire and willingness to pay for top condition cards. You can also blame him indirectly for the abundance of trimmed and altered cards that now exist because everyone wanted a piece of the Copeland pie.

Jay

I like to sit outside, drink beer and yell at people. If I did this at home, I would be arrested. So, I go to baseball games and fit right in.
