How do I get started on a prewar baseball collection?

To avoid paying 6 figures for anyone card, I am compromising by focusing on the T206 set, and getting the E90 Caramel Plank and Wagner. And the pre 20th century cards are my lowest priority. But yeah, I recognize that this will take a long time.
