I'm not sure what is more surprising ... the fact that so little is known about the artists who created pre-war cards ... or the fact that there seems to be little interest in knowing who the artists were. |

Most of the art for the Obaks, t-3s, t206s, etc. if I recall are colored (painted) copies of photographs. Many are from Horner photos (like the Wagner). It was probably some graphic artist who was just hired to look at the pics and paint them in the tones that were going to be used in the printing process... |

Im fascinated by some of the t3 action shots. They are almost look 3-d. Certainly cards like the goudeys were hand painted by looking at some real photo. What happened to these original paintings?!?!!? |
