Nice timing for this thread. Just got this in.





I was a little surprised at the lack of votes these 2 sets received in the current poll. Who else voted e90-2 with me?
I would also like to know how many here have completed either of the sets.

E90-3 has always been one of my favorites. Never get tired of it!

I have E90-3 complete--picked up about half of the set in about 1976 for less than a song--did the rest with the help of board members in the past year and a half. I echo Rob's sentiments--it's one of my favorites.

The fun of type collecting is the wide variety of cards to collect and the fact you can cherry pick your favorites in the sets.

Hey Robert,
I do need the Hahn and Payne, but was able to pick up the Gandil recently. Also, I just checked my spreadsheet and unfortunately (for me) it turns out I need six not five. The others I need are Archer, Overall, Steinfeldt and Purtell.

Interesting.

The last 5 I needed were Archer, Purtell, Hahn, Payne, and Gandil.

I have an extra Purtell if you need it. It's not the prettiest though.

I've always been interested in both of these sets ever since I started collecting. I was drawn to them initially because they seemed challenging, yet they are not large sets so I felt that I wouldn't get bored collecting them.

I've completed both sets twice each. The e90-3 set is possibly my favorite set after the e103s (I cheated and voted for both in the poll!). I've always enjoyed the e90-3s because for some reason, I really enjoy chasing the toughies in the set and those printing variations are really cool too. Rob and I were collecting this set at one point at the exact same time and that made it all the more fun.

The first time I went after it, Blackbourne, Payne and Brown were the final three cards I needed before finishing. The second time around, it was Payne holding out as the final card. At that time, Rob, I remember you needed a Payne as well to complete your set.

There are certain cards I always had an easy time finding for some reason. Archer and Smith, two cards known for their toughness, always seemed really easy for some reason.

Pictured below are a few of my favorites and a few cards I have listed in BST currently.

Yeah, Brian, we've had a good time with this set mostly collaborating and sometimes competing.

One time I was ready to throw down 500+ on that hahn example that was poor-. I think you won it for 60 or so, but had a large bid down as well. Glad I didn't get that bid in.

That card has been back and forth a couple of times. Still have that one?

Yeah, Rob, I remember that! I had a silly snipe placed on that Hahn and if your bid had gone through (I seem to remember Ebay froze up on you right at that moment?) I would have been out an additional $400 or something like that. That Hahn was actually really nice though, I won it for $80. It was a raw one that was a solid VG. Just listed in the wrong category. About a year earlier, I had won a heavily creased Hahn on Ebay for $23 as well.

I don't have that particular Hahn anymore. I have the two pictured above though. You found a Payne a lot quicker than I did though. Were we both down to that card at the same time before finishing our sets?

Still a little surprised at the lack of interest in these sets. There are quite a few e90-2 Wagners owned by board members. Leever is my favorite e90-2 pose behind Hyatt. I can't find the scan of the Leever currently in my collection, but here is one I sold recently.

Robert, the Hyatt should look very familiar. Thanks for it again!
