Maris was a great player for several years, but unfortunately he was also only a so-so player for several years as well. While he has more name recognition than the previously mentioned players, the Hall isn't really a popularity contest (well not in every case at least!) or you would see people like Mattingly already in there. Maris had several incredible seasons, he just doesn't have the CAREER statistics, etc. to warrant being included in Cooperstown. All of this is simply my opinion. |
