I just checked Lew Lipset's The Encyclopedia of BASEBALL CARDS Vol 2 Early Gum & Candy Cards. Lew writes, "The cards are not dated and most are blank backed except for the logo "Bardell Sepia San Francisco" written on what appears to be an artist's pallette. Some cards are found with the following inscription on the rear, Save HOME RUN KISSES Pictures for valuable premiums. List will be issued July 15, 1912 COLLINS-McCARTHY CANDY CO. San Francisco, Cal."
After reading Lew's description, I can see how the person who wrote the introduction for SCD's Home Run Kisses section must have mis-read Lew's description. Patrick Last edited by Vintagecatcher; 09-11-2009 at 07:34 PM. |
