I just tried to see how you select the "era" if you're trying to sell a card. It looks like you don't. It's automatically assigned based on year, as far as I can tell.
That would be fine except that "year" is still an optional category. This means that many cards will be still listed with an "unspecified" year and therefore an "unspecified" era. I still don't get why ebay has tried to make it more difficult to find what you're looking for. With all of the work-around strategies people have come up with, it might not be as horrible as we first thought. But it's still stupid and will lead to fewer buyers and sellers coming together.
