I just got home from work and was going to make a thread like this. I don't know how well known Dave was to fans outside of the Pacific Northwest, but he was one of the best baseball broadcasters of all-time. Dave was the voice of the Mariners since the very first game in 1977. I was born in 1982 and as long as I've been alive, Dave's voice has been the soundtrack to the summer. It's really hard to imagine a Mariners season without him. As I was driving home, the local sports station had Griffey and a bunch of fans sharing their stories of how Dave enriched their lives. I got pretty choked up. Just a really sad day for fans in Seattle and anybody that had the good fortune to know him.
