Added another 1920 Babe Ruth Headin' Home card to the collection so felt it might not be a bad thing to show a thread with the 3 different cataloged varieties. The first ones are very small at about 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" and the rest are a bit bigger than your typical candy cards. These are often faked/reprinted too. There is really no set order I am aware of as they were never cataloged by Burdick.

1st Series- Babe Ruth Headin' Home- small and generally had blank backs though stamps have been seen on some (as here). 2nd Series - Babe Ruth Headin' Home Theater Cards- larger at approx 1 3/4" x 3 3/4", *real photo card, have theaters printed or stamped on backs 3rd Series- Babe Ruth Headin' Home Tex Rickard Cards- larger at approx 1 3/4" x 3 3/4", *real photo card, have a Tex Rickard stamp on backs

I never knew that there were theater cards. It almost makes you wonder: how many of these cards are in the possession of play/showbiz collectors, who have no about how popular vintage baseball cards are? |

I wonder if my grandfather's saw the movie? They were 8 and 9 when it came out! They loved Ruth! |

Wonderful cards, Leon! Actual photo cards of the Babe's first season with the Yanks, and first 50+ (54) homerun season. You make all of us drool over our keyboards.

Tangential to this thread is a still from the short Ruth did in 1931 called "Fancy Curves" which my inner fourteen year old acquired for its baseball and babelicious babe content. ![]() Here is the short per YouTube. It's 8+ minutes long, basically hokey but some may find it enjoyable. |

Thanks for posting that one Brian. I have never seen it before.

Thanks for the kind words too guys. This is the sort of thing that keeps me interested in collecting. And wait...... there's more. Here is a Sept 19, 1920 NY Tribune ad for Tex Rickard's Headin' Home movie!!! It is the actual ad for the very card pictured above.... best regards

...so David does not feel all alone with his tangent of a post. I have my own Babe and Babe-a-licious item...a lobby card from "Headin' Home"...with a cuter "Babe" than the one from the 1931 film!!

Mini baseball bats were also given out at the shows. Here are 2 examples. They are both 5 inches long and the one says "Babe Ruth" at Orpheum Jan. 9 and the other says "Babe Ruth" at B.F. Kieth's WK Nov. 7.

Those are awesome. If you look at the back of the 2 trimmed cards in the first post you will see where it says these bats were given out. If you ever consider letting one go please let me know first . What great "go with" pieces. And Adam, thanks for letting me know about the other colors . I believe I have seen the shades of blue but not a green or red one. Have you seen "Babe Ruth" R94's in those shades?

Thanks Leon. I have been collecting Ruth cards/memorbilia for about 15 years now and I bought the first one about 5 years ago and bought the second one about a month later. I have not seen another one since. If I ever decided to sell one, I will let you know first.

I owned the complete movie a while back. It was in one of Lifson's auctions and I was the lucky winner - five or six reels worth. Unfortunately, the material of which film was made at that time is highly flammable and difficult to put out. I ended up donating it to the Museum of Modern Art's film warehouse up near Scranton.
