Hi Steve- well, it is an image of the Knickerbockers and Excelsiors, which was originally taken in 1859. Large format photographs from that period are almost nonexistent, and if you found one it would likely be a salt print, a very early form of photography that preceded the albumen by a few years. Your image is of course not period, and it is not clear when it was made. My guess is probably sometime around 1920, but I'm not sure.
And among its significant features is the sixth player from the left is a 24 year old Harry Wright, almost certainly the earliest image of him we know. |
