I was told by my mail person today that the hurricane from 2 weeks ago and all the other rain kinda put things behind a bit especially on the east coast. Flooding and a week of no electric is some areas the main issue. 6 days DE to FL.

I mailed a package from MA to NC on 8/22 - just before the hurricane. It appeared lost - no tracking updates after 8/23 - until it was delivered yesterday. So I think patience is key on the East Coast right now!

I've shipped stuff out everyday since last week (except Sunday and Monday) and everything has arrived in 2-3 days. I've gotten a few things as well and they arrived just as quickly, so no problems here.

Default Timely Discussion For Me

I've been shipping via USPS for decades and have never lost a package.

Until now Track this: 0310 3490 0000 2647 7002

I googled the sort facility and found that others have been losing packages there for a long time.

I guess if your even slightly dishonest and you see a RA number on the package and you like things that the addressee makes, then why not help yourself. Especially if the package is uninsured. And especially if you think you're going to get laid off soon.

Still batting in the high 900's, so it's not the end of the world.

Verbatim conversation with my mail person right around 5pm today (she was closing my mailbox as I walked up):

ME: "Do I have have any packages today?"

HER (walking away): "Nope."

ME: "Are you sure?"

HER (still walking): "Yes."

ME (calling after her): "The reason why I ask is because I noticed on the website that I had a package out for delivery."

Moment of doubt on her part -- there's a website? She steels herself.

HER (reaching into her pouch to show me how very wrong I am): "You don't have any packag......wait, you have four."

Four packages.

As she starts to beep the packages with the 1963 Kennedy space program prototype scanner that never works for any mail person until he/she starts to bargain with it, because it's a scanner made almost entirely out of duct-tape and hope, another mailman walks up and informs her that she's working the wrong route today.

So she stops scanning.

HER (to the other mailman, because now I'm in a Marx Brothers skit): "Really, are you sure?"

HIM: "Yes, this is 1400 block."

ME (pointing at my address): "Actually, it's the 1500 block."

HER (to the other mailman, and is he really a mailman? -- he's wearing blue, but that's the only positive identifier) : "I'm not supposed to work the 1400 block?"

ME (tapping the address above the gate, because I'm tall): "It's the 1500 block."

HIM (to her): "No, you're not." (conciliatory, and sensing an opportunity to shirk) "Do you want to?"

I had the best mailman up until about 3 weeks ago. The guy was awesome. Then I received a notice in the mail informing me that the USPS was re-evaluating the postal routes in my area, in order to better serve the community. Since then, it's been an absolute shit-show. I'm literally expecting to find letters nailed to the tree out front.

The number didn't register on USPS. Where was the facility?

Its been very slow I have had 3 trades take 2 weeks to get to it destination. I was starting to wonder if they were lost. I since changed the PO and the ones I sent on this past Tuesday got to their destination today.

Default Usps

Hate to reopen a old theard like this. But is USPS running real slow again. I am waiting on 2 package's still. One sent 10/3 stuck in Jacksonsville, FL since 10/7. The other sent 10/6 stuck in Kent, WA since 10/8. I know Columbus day might have slowed things down a day or two, but things just seem crazy the past few weeks....

I told someone this morning that I have been waiting for a few pieces of mail longer than normal. I think the USPS might be having more problems than we can see as outside customers.

Somebody shipped me a card this week and I received it by the end of the week. There are a couple of factors. The most important factors being the distance between origin and destination and method of shipment.

I shipped out three packages of cards on Tuesday. Two to PA, and one to TN. Two out of three make it on time, while one going to PA appears to still be at my post office according to delivery confirmation. The USPS does a pretty fine job 99% of the time, but that 1% sure can be frustrating to deal with.

Best,

Andy
