Even if this was a real signed ball, which it isn't, Bobby Shantz wasn't on the team by spring training of 61. Best it could be is 60...hmmmmm

I got an e-mail the other day from a guy trying to sell a Foxx single signed baseball. He says he played a little college ball in Miami under the Beast himself. He sent a scan of his baseball but I'm a little on the fence.

I could be wrong, but didn't it have something to do with Halper, and a sheet of paper signed by 500 HR club members?

I think you're right. I guess my memory is okay, but not precise
![]() Anyway, posting pics of the ball in question would go much farther toward validating the guy's story than a blind "sounds plausible" affirmation. |
