My user name is the only 'proper' nickname I received during the twenty or so years I pitched locally in high school, college, and semipro / industrial leagues.
David Clyde's debut spurred the conjunction with my last name Culpepper. We were both lefties making our first big slash, though mine was in a considerably smaller body of water. Clyde actually came here to Columbus in 1981 to almost resurrect his career - he was great here at AA, but did not do well enough at AAA to get back to the Bigs. He was only here for about a month and by the time I heard about it, he was gone. Another leisure activity lost to Retail Management.
