Val—we’re just two old farts. I remember watching the Celtics and going to a few games at the Garden when I was in college, but those were the Celtics with Havlicek. I never saw Cousy play.
I attended the Sparks game tonight against the Las Vegas Aces. The Aces, led by A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young, put a spanking on the LA team. Wilson played only 30 minutes but ended up with 34 points (17 in the first quarter when the game was still in question), 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks, all with only 3 turnovers. Compare this to Caitlin Clark’s best game ever (35 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals, no blocks and 5 turnovers in 36 minutes). Pretty close, but only one thing; this was not close to Wilson’s best game ever. I stand by what I said at the top—I think A’ja Wilson is the greatest WNBA player ever.
