| Sixth annual suit and tie affair (hats, fedoras and skimmers welcome).

It's that time of year again. The occasion, or occasions when you have to dress up for a gathering. So, lets see the suits, ties and hats:

Here's the 1909 AL champs in their Sunday go to meeting clothes - not a smile among them. Sporting News Supplements have some of the best photos of the T-card subjects. |

Thanks Leon, perhaps I can get a double whammy here. Can anyone say who the third player from the left bottom row is? I think it's Hatfield based on looking at lots of team photos perhaps our guru Mark will chime in.

John...after a little more research on the REA site for the 1889 Giants in tuxs, I think they got the following wrong. Whitney and Murphy should be reversed, Slattery in place of Tiernan, and Tiernan as the unidentified. Don't know why Ward wasn't included. I hope this helps, and just love your photo.

Wonka - it is Mike Tiernen, not Gil Hatfield. The correct IDs for the '89 Giants in suits are: Pat Murphy – Tim Keefe – Mike Slattery – Mickey Welch – Roger Connor – William Brown – Buck Ewing Art Whitney – Ed Crane – Mike Tiernan – Jim Mutrie – Danny Richardson – Bill George – Jim O’Rourke Last edited by bmarlowe1; 12-02-2013 at 06:40 PM. |
