NYC National

I remember setting up at the Golden Gate Motor Inn in Brooklyn for their bi-monthly shows in the late 70's. I know they use to have other big shows in NYC but how come they never had a National Show in NYC. The material and collectors in the New York area are phenomanal and for out of towners NYC in the summer is a great place to visit. I am not talking about Parsipanny or White Plains but how come NYC never hosted the National?
