W560 - how do you spot a reprint?

Howdy all, just picked these up at a local auction. Wanted to get your opinion. I read in one place that apparently the backs say 'reprint'. The part Im having a hard time with is deciding whether someone rubbed the word 'reprint' off the cards or if the slight rub marks are simply indicative of being in a book or something for a while. (mightve been held in place like people do with stamps).

Any ideas?

the reprint set also included more players- i think it totalled 64 (with jokers) whereas the original had around 50. dont know if this helps you or not

The rubbings on the back of your two scanned cards are exactly where it says "reprint" on the reprint set.

Thats pretty much what I wanted to know (as to the rubbing).... not real worried about it, only spent $20. Wouldve been a nice steal, but oh well... these cards arent really my area of expertise which is why i wanted to come to you fine folks...

When it comes to pre-wwii, the only thing Ive spent any time in is Diamond Matchbooks (I just love them)...

The color of the back looks different also. Below is a scan of the front and back of the Grove card that I sold on eBay several weeks ago.

Brad has it right, the backs of authentic cards are a gray color while the fronts are a cream color. Cards are found in 3 variations, a red ink, a black ink, or a scarcer red & black ink.
