There are at least 4 different types of playing card designs that look like strip cards, 2 are very rare. one more scarce (E285), and one very common (W560). |

Frank, how come you didn't show the 6 of clubs for the w560 and e258? Even though I hate these tpyes of cards, I've never seen the first 2 you posted. Always neat to see new cards, even if they are hideous. |

Wow Glen, you are just pulling them out, first the Wheat Felt, and now the Speaker. What else do you have to excite us type collectors. |

They may be ugly (to some), but it doesnt get any rarer!! Anyone can obtain an extremely common Goudey Ruth or T206 Cobb any day of the week. But try to locate a card like this Tris Speaker above may take many years if ever. Only the second from that set Ive seen in over 25 years collecting vintage. And I am always looking |

strip card question

For those of you that are interested, I was digging through some 15 year old "The Old Judge" (Lew Lipset) newsletters and came across a "Four Base Hits Auction" catalog. I found the picture of the "1920's W-Unc. Playing Strip Cards" Ruth (on left in picture). Also in the same picture (on the right) is another of the playing cards like Meusel and Speaker above. I never paid much attention to the card on the right, but it is a Ruth from the same set (slightly offcut with a "Q" showing on the left side). Back in 1991 I was bidding on the D350-3 Ruth (rarer 1921 version) in the middle, I should have bid on the rarer ones on the left and right but I didnt. BTW I didnt win the D350-3 Ruth, my max was $400. oh well |

strip card question

Can someone provide a nominal size for the Meusel/Speaker/Ruth type? I've had a photo of a Ruth in my files for years, but no indication of size. I've added the Hogan to the other set, but would hesitate to add Ruth without verification in the form of a scan or photcopy. |

From my records, The Meusel (type) is 1.5" by 2.5", and the Hogan (type) is roughly 1.6" by 2.6" |
