Hey Folks,
Here is the philadelphia Phillies application to be admitted to the National Leaque dated 1882 and signed by Al Reach. (try and find his autograph) The beauty of the piece is its simplicity as today to be admitted into the Major League as a ball team probably requires one ton of paper work, 12 lawyers 15 accountants and a plethora of lobbyists.

Looking at the stationary, I assume The Continental was a hotel ("3 or 4 dollars a day"). I think it is absolutely wonderful that this was written on a piece of hotel paper and turned in to the NL office. Wondeful simplicity like Leon said.

Can someone make out the first line written by Soden for me? What is the last word in the first line? - Erland

MY guess is:

first line ends with "refer-"

second line starts with "red"

So it says "referred to" when you read it?
