I'm saying, since there is no such thing as a T206, with a Ty Cobb back, that it gets no bids! I refuse to accept this as part of the T206 set

Another with 13 players who were with the Pittsburgh Pirates during the regular season, but never played a game. There's also one about 27 baseball families, as well as a day-by-day look at the worst team in Pittsburgh Pirates history. There seems to be some dispute as to when the Cobb backs were produced. If they were produced in 1910, as seems to be indicated by an ad in a Georgia newspaper, then they could be part of the set. If they were distributed in Cobb tobacco tins that would likely date them to 1912, which would be too late to be T206s. As far as I can tell, the best argument in favor of including them in the set is that Jefferson Burdick put them there back in the '30s. There is no definitive proof either way, so reach your own conclusion. By the way, there are members on this board who know 10x as much as me on this subject, so maybe they can weigh in on the matter, and correct me if I got this wrong.

Chris,
Where is the scan on the left from? Was it from a previous auction? I would be just a tad bit pissed if I bought the card based on the image on left only to receive the card as it looks on the image on the right. |

Goldin auctions does not edit scans in any way.
If the card looked " better" in a different scan, it could only be an edited scan or " bad scanner" I guess, or perhaps a different setting..... Our auction ends Friday Good luck to all |
