So unless he is picking up the items from REA tomorrow how could I expect delivery (by First Class Mail) by the stated time if I did a BIN today?

In a world of altered cards, shilled auctions, jacked up scans and lying auction houses, I can live with that. Besides, it says estimated.

I collect Dots Miller cards, so that E125 is interesting for a couple reasons. One is that they used his picture from the T206, took the bat out of his hands and put a ball and glove in there instead. Never noticed that. The reason I never noticed it is because I never really looked close. I have no interest in the set due to price and it is off by a lot for me. When I saw the opening bid was $300, I said that's about 6x what I'd pay. Don't see the appeal of that set, might just be me though. $300 just seems like a ton for a die cut like that.

I thought the pose change was cool though. Here is the full picture they used for the T206, you can see it's the same

not easy to re-sell items from Edwards and Legendary so quickly. It's most often that the price with vig is high and the item has been seen by most of them what's interested. There are exceptions. One of my favorite dealers got his start at shows going from dealer's table to dealer's table making sales from one to the next. It takes great knowledge of the items and the market. Same case here although sometimes someone has second thoughts about an item they didn't win and will pony up to get it. Mostly it's about the passage of time - at least for me. I don't deal on the "whale scale" - or have connections to celebrities (other than Leon) and the "closet buyers" - a market in which "quick flips" from a prestiege auction might be successful.

+1. It would be different if it was from a less followed auction. But come on - we are talking about one of the biggest auction houses in the game. You are trying to market your items to the exact same pool of bidders that saw the auction last night. Now, if some decent time had elapsed, I might not place a bet. As it stands now, I'm selling short.

there are a number of people...many on this board...who have attempted to employ this business model over the years...they'll buy something from one of the big auction houses...then put it in the BST the next day...or week at an overinflated price.

I've always wondered WTF these people are thinking? WE're all looking at these auctions together...discussing them ad nauseum on this and other sites. If I didn't want to pay what it sold for in the big auction house...why would I now want it for 30-50% more?!

I'm sure Dan thought it was a good deal and doesn't mind having it in his inventory for a while...and that's fine...but those that think they'll sell these "flips" overnight...that's just crazy!

WE might not but there are a lot of other collectors out there; the market is wider than just this audience. I've flipped stuff profitably straight out of auctions and straight out of eBay sales. Just depends on the item and on finding a willing buyer. Also, if the item is a good one and is rare, it isn't necessarily a bad thing to hold in inventory. I've seen things I've owned for a while appreciate well past the point where I'd have happily flipped them. Dan's an old pro at this so he clearly knows his business model.

Because you just never know. Just today I discovered a card that I never knew existed thanks of this forum, and now it is firmly on my want list. REA's book came and I scanned it a few times, took note of a couple things, and let the auction pass as there wasn't really anything I had to have. Then Rhett posted the Moonlight Graham PC in the pickup thread and my jaw dropped. Not everyone in the hobby follows the auction scene and I was bidding in the auction and did not even realize what the card was (hell, I don't think REA did either based upon the description). If Rhett posted that card in the B/S/T for the price of the entire lot or slightly higher I would strongly consider it.

Folks, don't question Dan (hey buddy), his integrity has never been an issue. If says he will deliver, HE WILL, plain and simple!!
