That's pretty cool. Thanks for the info. Does that mean anything towards collectibility or desirability? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would say no. If there is a significant portion of the (Same) name, there are some that will pay a premium. If it's a different name, even a sliver, there will be a premium. |

Nice T206 pickups Bill. I have always really liked the Bergen batting pose, it was my second T206 and remains one of my favorites.

Of the many cards I love in '49 Bowman, this is probably only second to the Paige for me. The pose, the colors, almost like an Andy Warhol. An Andy Warhol Andy Seminick! Got it in the mail today

They certainly do as well as imitation purses and bags and a lot of other junk. I hate to rain on the parade, but I thought he was only technically good. I never thought much of his art. I always thought he was a twentieth century art version of PT Barnum.

September Cusp
Another late scanning of late August pickups - these are from a board member with help from an esteemed moderator. Thank you both.
While each one has an issue or three, the color, registration and eye appeal is generally really good... these scans don't do them justice. Mostly Broadleaf backs, with a couple of Anonymous ones. -- Mike |

Patrick, his face looks so much more intense on the S74 than the T205 card!

I found this old baseball cabinet of Thomas J. Donovan. He made it to the bigs in 1901. This cabinet would have been from his 1887-1888 seasons with the Meriden Bulldogs in the Connecticut State League.

Chris - you know I doctored the photo (added the M101-6 lettering, modified the coloring to match the card).
The photo itself is an original 1917 Mendelsohn print - 4.75 x 6.5, shown unadulterated on the Memorabilia side.

That Holke is wonderful. Hold off if you can Scott, if only for awhile, as Chris is relentless. Makes Red from "The Blacklist" look like a piker.

Ha Scott I knew it was a photo but I didn't catch the doctoring- I am still interested in it! I got skunked on a couple that were auctioned in a Hyee listing and I missed a couple others. I want one of those photos more than I want another actual m101-6...

Just verified that this is also a Mendelsohn - it's glued to a mount which I have separated enough to see Mendelsohn's stamp on the verso. Probably also 1917

me too. Scott, don't know if you're aware that Holke is one of the very few m101-6s that shows him captioned with two teams, although the same photo was used. That photo was taken when he was with the Giants, not the Braves.

I don't know anything about M101's - I just collect photos and Mendelsohn was one of the better photographers. But thanks for that information.
Just finished removing the photo from a more modern mount - here's the stampings on the verso - you can see where there used to be a Sporting News archive stamp, which someone removed so that the photo would lie flat on the mount (it's thin and curls). The Holke has Mendelsohn's embossment at the lower right - no stamps on the back.
