2015 Leaf Stan Musial Autograph Cards
I have been seeing several 2015 Leaf Heroes of Baseball and 1951 Batting Champ cards offered on ebay and these cards feature authentic Musial autographs according to the back. My question is how did they get authentic autographs from a fellow who passed away before the cards were made? Did they just cut our strips from previously autographed items and paste them on the cards?
Thinking of buying one of these but puzzled by how they did it. thanks

Musial
I don't know the answer to your question but in addition to signing anything for fans he met, Musial had a memorabilia company that churned out items including autographs in volume. Considering his highest salary was around $ 100,000 he may have made more on memorabilia than from his playing career. His company/estate may have had a bunch of stuff in "inventory" when he died

They had him signing stickers on his death bed that's why some many look like chicken scratch

I am of the belief that Stan hit the Bob Feller plateau and it seems likely more difficult to find a decent unsigned item than a signed one.

Stan did nothing but sign autographs until the day he died. I truly believe that's probably kept him going for so long.
I got him on a ball back in 2009 right after the AS game. sent him a letter and a ball, I wasn't sure if he charged at the time...but he sent it back signed and a little piece of paper stating prices if i wanted anything else signed. |

Glad you like it!
I like some of the photos they picked for that issue. To be honest, I have stopped collecting anything with a sticker or cut auto as the attraction to an signed card for me is the idea that the player actually held it. When they haven't I just don't get the same joy from it. I do have quite few though from before I made this decision. Some are pretty neat, I still really like the 2007 Topps co-signers moon shots.
