Picked up this photo from Historic Images. Guy on the right is identified as promoter Dave Hawkins, who I could find no info on as of yet.

Fighter on the left which is unidentified, I am almost positive is a very rare image of Top Middleweight contender "Panama" Joe Gans who was blocked by the color barrier at the time from fighting for the World Title.

Did hold the "Colored" Middleweight title on more then one occasion. Beat rival Tiger Flowers twice.

Blind studio stamp on the photo indicates a Cleveland photo studio. Gans may have stopped there on his way to fight Flowers in Toledo in 1923.....or the studio may have traveled to Toledo for the fight, which was somewhat of a big deal at the time.

Thanks Adam, saw that image before. Almost looks like Kid Norfolk to me. I based the ID on the following photo, but the more I look at it now, the more I think I might be wrong.

Then I also found this one which makes me even more unsure...

Other similar fighters who fought extensively in the Ohio area during that time include Jamaica Kid and Tut Jackson, but I can't find anything on them who would match this guy either.

Never got around to posting this in the "finds" thread. These Stevengraphs are really little works of art. Still haven't figured out if I want to remove it from the frame.

Thanks Adam, I meant the guy on the Cuban Panama Joe Gans card looked a lot like Kid Norfolk, who's definitely not my guy.

Guess it will probably go in the dreaded "Unidentified" photo box, which seems to be getting filled with more and more photos then I care to admit.
