The most I ever spent on a card was $500 for my Tom Seaver rookie.

I'm a small fish in this sea of mega collectors...$225 for me back in 1990 on a 1972 Nolan Ryan....back when Beckett High was king. Ouch.

I am thinking of plunking down $600 or so for the '48 Leaf Ruth.....but my palms get sweaty just thinking about it!

I've spent $2000 on a collection but don't think ever more than $200 for a single card.

I think I spent roughly $3500 on a 52 Topps Mantle. Got outbid on another card at around $9,000, but would have had to sell some stuff to pay for it. Those were different times--working for private practice but now a government employee--and that particular Mantle is long gone.

Got all caught up in the Black Swamp find when they were first offered. Paid a little too much on a Cy Young.
