Sport Kings cut autograph mystery ?
In a recent search, I found a very disturbing revelation.
Years ago, when the set was issued, I did an article on this 1/1 cut autographed card of the Great Stan Matthews. When I google it this week I found a strangely similar card. On closer examination, the signature is not similar, it's exactly the same! The distance to the postmark, the script is a exact copy. This brings great question. I am putting this out there for everyone to examine for themselves: ] ]

Wow, that is crazy! Almost a guarantee that one of the two is a fraud - but which is it?
It's interesting, but if I was purchasing a modern 1/1 like this I would never think to check for it being a forgery. I buy lots of vintage soccer from around the globe and am frequently suspect, but I never have thought to be concerned with a modern issue like this. Can you post links to the sites where you found this? You should see if you can get those guys with WorthPoint accounts who tracked down the T206 auto forgeries to run a search on who sold these cards. If they made this one, they likely made more and if there is one group of folks who can track it down, it'd be the Net54 crew. Maybe Leon would even move the thread to the main forum to get more eyeballs on it for you. |

One source was the cardboard connection, the other was Sports Collectors Daily. Both were realiable sources

That is a worry, no doubt it's the same signature being used. Have both of these actually been pulled from packs or are they promo images? The only innocent explanation I can think of is that at least one (or both) is/are a mock up for promotion and at some stage they re-jigged the card before physical release but both before and after images have stayed out there.
