Default PWCC Auctions..current offerings critique

Personally I think there should be an ongoing thread discussing PWCC's offerings.

Now am I being hyper-critical these days in light of whats going on or not...please tell me!!!!

But the corner wear on this 38 goudey Joe D just appears so unnatural to me?????

Am I going mad?????

3 of the 4 corners look really unnatural to me?

Honestly in this case, they look ok to me. The corners will show that thin, almost transparent attribute as they wear. These dont look built up to me.

Pete something looks off here on those bottom corners...would like to get a black light to them.

Idk

Why are people still bidding on these cards knowing what’s been going on?

Are these vault bidders ?

You think 1 is too high a grade for those corners.

Not saying it hasn't been messed with. But, corner chipping will expose whiter areas with a darkened or stained border. I know that's not news to anyone. I do think everything needs to be challenged, given the current climate. The new holders spook me a bit too.

I can’t believe it, either. I won’t even consider a card that is in or has been in a PWCC auction. Can’t believe people still consign there, but clearly lots of people do that, too.
Hell, I know that a few board members here still bid, but everyone to their own...

I guess I see different things.

Being PWCC, the fact that it's as short as it is doesn't make for any confidence.

And while I'm ok with the lower corners, the upper edge especially seen from the back looks like it's no good. Like lots of nice light new chipping no good.

But why trim a 1 MK? Was there an earlier amateur trim that made it an A?

The corners don't look like purely natural wear. It is like someone rounded them a bit. That said, if I were bidding on this card, and I am not, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Hey, at least the back hasn't been conserved!!

Looks like a classic trim job to me...I would still like to have it, but I'd buy it knowing that it was trimmed.

I don't see this card as having been "messed with", other than the obvious markings.

I agree with you, but others are sure it's been altered. The assumption is every card is altered with very few means to prove otherwise. There are mind numbing numbers of altered cards out there. But, I dont see this as one worth trimming, given everything else going on with it.

It will be interesting to see how many consignments they have this month. I did notice that they were extending their deadline to submit.

Could it be a very good fake disguised as a battered card?
