Ford - black cap variation w/Sweet Cap back

Wonder what a rookie card of a Yankees pitcher would sell for in todays market after a rookie season with these pitching statistics...26-6 won-loss record with 209 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.65 with 29 complete games and 8 shutouts...and if there was a variation!

Lol...Wonder what Mr. Ford's sold for in 1911?

If you are alluding to Ford's T205 as his rookie card, check again....his T206 (460 Series) card is his ROOKIE card.

Mr. Gardner. Something I had not noticed until after I had scanned the card - the 'N' and 'Y' on his collar.

Next up Mr. Gaspar.

Default Dolly Gray No Stats

By the time he reached 30, "Dolly" Gray had already produced an excellent career in the PCL -- so excellent that he is a member of the Pacific Coast League Hall of Fame. Then, in 1909 he joined Washington in the American League.

His MLB performance was less than excellent, producing a 15-51 career record. And most of the noteworthy accomplishments were negative -- he holds a record for walking eight batters in one inning, including seven in a row.

But in April 1911, as Washington opened what would come to be known as Griffith Stadium (and cigarettes came with brightly-colored, gold-bordered baseball cards), Gray got the start against Smoky Joe Wood. Gray would win the game, a high-point in his otherwise disappointing 2-13 final MLB season.

(87) Arnold J. Hauser Cardinals

Default Livingstone is a tough Single-Print. We proceed to John Lobert.....

Like the bio on Lobert's card reads.... John was one of "the fastest men" in BB. So how fast was he ?
In 1913, John Lobert and Jim Thorpe raced the 100 yard dash at the Polo Grounds and Lobert won.

Default 50 shades of Hoffman

More Hoffman examples here.
This was obviously one of the trickiest cards for the printers to get right.

Here are examples of:
- White 2b, darker shading on portrait
- White 2b, little shading on face
- Yellow in 2b, darker shading on portrait
- Yellow 2b, green stripe in background
- Yellow 2b, "normal" portrait (blue eyes evident)
- White 2b, but yellow in 3b, and a small yellow triangle above 1b

I wouldn't call all of these variations per se, but they definitely show that this card gave the printers fits.

Posting the second of three T330-2 Piedmont Art Stamps with similar artwork, but not seen in the T205 set. Killifer is the only one of these three (also Blair and Wood) that was not seen as an end panel in the T202 set.

Thank you.
Sheepishly I’ll admit to following this site for years. So I consider all of you teachers. Collecting has been an education and a passion. It’s exciting to finally participate in the forum I’ve come to enjoy so much.
So, thank you.

Yeah, you don't see too many Killifer stamps around...I looked for this for quite a few years
