Rebel Oakes was quite the "speedster". A left-handed batter, he once laid down a Bunt, and scored in the same play.
The combination of his speed around the bases, an error (or two) by the opposing team resulted in a "Bunt - HR" ![]() . ![]() TED Z T206 Reference . |

“Bugs” the boozer Raymond.
“ Teammate Rube Marquard once said that Bugs didn’t spit on the ball, he just breathed on it and it came up drunk.” YIKES! I will post a better scan and back later when I get home. This is one of the nicest examples in my near set

Reulbach, Piedmont 25, with a handwritten back holding the card together.
This is one of my favorite cards. I imagine a kid carefully rescuing the torn card and writing the bio on the back as well as possible.

I'm jumping over Turner to post my James Vaughn, because I'll be away the most
of the day. I think you will find my bit of trivia regarding Vaughn quite interesting. A T205 tough short-print from my Yankees collection. James Vaughn participated in a "double no-hitter" on May 2, 1917 at Wrigley Field. This event is the only instance in Major League history where both pitchers pitched No Hitters for 9 innings. Vaughn dueled with Fred Toney of the Cincinnati Reds. In the top of the 10th, the Reds got two hits off Vaughn to win the game. Jim Thorpe drove in the winning run.
