Thanks Adam. Australia tonight. 1949 issue by Victorian Nut Supplies. Two cards of Louis but with different backs. There’s three different back variations known. In my opinion, the advert back is super rare. Still haven’t got them all yet.

A second c. 1910 card I find amusing. The artist didn't get lazy this time, but I must question the life decision to tat a big red sailboat on your chest.

Deshler was a journeyman whose W/L is about 50/50, but he did fight Packey McFarland to a draw in 1909 when McFarland was racking up a huge string of victories against pretty good guys. He was a good fighter when his card was produced. This is the T219 cropping.

I just want to show Leach Cross because his nickname was "The Fighting Dentist", which is awesome. He was a solid B grade lightweight who beat a lot of other solid B grade lightweights. He fought out of a crouch and relied on the right cross, the newspaper reports make it sound like he was something of a fan favorite. His dentistry even intersected with his boxing, in one fight Cross apparently knocked out Knock-Out Brown's tooth, and then repaired it for him after the fight. He appears too have been a routinely practicing dentist throughout his career, and ran his dental practice until his death.

1910 T229 Kopec Hugo Kelly. Such a difficult issue to find in England. Only three cards in nearly 40 years collecting.

One of my favorite Caramels, presumably based on their July 1909 or February 1910 bouts. They fought 3 times, Wolgast won all 3, 2 by general newspaper decision and 1 by TKO. Both men suffered from mental health problems in their years after the ring.

Swedish issue 1960 Hemmets Journal uncut panel featuring Cassius Clay. Acknowledged as his rookie card. This card can also be found cut into into individual players. The Clay cut can be found graded as high as PSA10?! Unbelievable! How? I’m not against hand cut cards, I have many in my collection, some raw, some graded. But, in my opinion, this particular issue was never really meant to be cut up into individual subjects. Anyone who thinks any different is taking a swipe at the printers and miss understanding the issue. It’s only my opinion although contentious I know, but these hand cut “Hemmets ournal” cards are just that.

Brent, I don't think anyone has finished the Kopec set. I wonder if some of the really obscure ones even exist or if disappointed kids just threw then out.
Same problem as the 1925 Exhibit Champions. You have Ruth, Dempsey, Weismueller, Sarazen, Tilden and then a bunch of increasingly obscure ones.

I think they all exist, I know one fairly quiet gentleman who is pretty close to a full set of Kopec backs and told me he’d seen the missing ones. Think it’s one of the “completely possible, but good luck” sets to complete. Shame they are so tough, as they are gorgeous set.

Same printer as Obaks, I think. Whatever they did it was superior to what was used for the other T sets, even T218.

The detail always impresses, in such a small card size. Comparing your Monte to a T218, there is somehow more detail in him than the much larger American Lithographic Company cards. I've also presumed they are the same printer as the Obaks, and the same artists, but direct evidence is so difficult to find for most anything about these old cards. I strongly regret trading my small collection away a few years ago, I only have a Soldier King (Kopec) and a John L. Sullivan (Pet) I bought a few weeks ago (I believe you were the seller, actually). I'd love to see someone put together a full run of either back

Spanish issue 1931 Evaristo Juncosa Jack Johnson. A cracking card. Many years ago one of the UK’s foremost boxing collectors, Bill Priddy, encouraged me to collect foreign issue cards. But, in my stubborn youth, I new better. However, regrettably, I did not!

Mark, I resisted foreign cards for a long time, too. My initial book effort was just "USA" American cards but then I decided to cover Canadian and Latin American cards, and before I know it I am trying to index (then collect) everything nominally American (hence covering NX5 because the PI was a US colony at the time). The overseas cards started up in earnest when I decided to go for a HOF set, and found that a good number of fighters have no American cards to speak of but had overseas cards. Now I am a type collector primarily with probably 1,200 or so different types, and a HOF collector.

The photo was shot at Universal Studios where both men worked. My guess is that this is a staged shot rather than a genuine sparring workout shot because JD is wearing regulation gloves and a cup while Mix is wearing slip-on 16 oz gloves and no apparent cup. No way does a cup-less Mix go up against Dempsey with the latter wearing regulation gloves. As Mick would say: "He'll kill yuh to death inside of three rounds!"

Every boxing card listed on this forum is awesome! Boxers and Boxing, if it’s on a card we want to collect it and share it. Personally, I want to see EVERYTHING! The good, bad and the ugly. All are welcome. 🙏 Tonight’s card is a seldom seen issue! Ogden’s General Interest “F” series Pat Daly. It is a seldom seen issue, however, it’s only when you see the back of this card that you realise it’s special. American in its wording but definitely a British issue. “Favorite”? Wait for it? Misspelled or Misspelt. I believe it to be a Tobacco War beauty!! My wife says I talk too much. Lol!
