Either way, its an important card in the 1948 set and I love the action shot. Notice how players dribbled from the top of the ball, almost slapping down, in the early era, as opposed to "carrying" the ball in today's game.

He would join three other HOFers on this card. Definitely not holding my breath for Connie Simmons to make it a sweep.

Sadly I don’t think there is a chance.
No sport disrespects the founders of their game like the NBA. Hell, the Lakers are JUST NOW retiring Miken’s jersey number. They couldn’t find time to retire the player that basically built their own organization when he retired after the 56’ season? They retired Jamaal Wilkes a decade ago. The players and management have no care or respect for those that came before them and it’s a shame.

I agree with Justin it has always amazed me how little the NBA is concerned with its own history. I understand the first few years 46 47 48 are a little confusing BAA NBL etc. But the NBA has claimed 1946 as the start and since 1946 the NBA has grown in leaps and bounds. That growth came from the hard work of many players. And those players who contributed certainly deserve a significant amount more recognition than they have been given to this point.

It's too bad that hockey doesn't have even that much history,
what with the NHL, having been, um, founded? by Gretzky in what, the 1990s, right? As far as anyone could tell... Go Bisons! Oh, wait, they already went... they're the Atlanta Hawks now.

I knew I had seen this program cover before. Found it again in a BAA search. Shows Max had respect from his team. Sad to see that respect forgotten as it has been for many basketball players from his era.

Max is once again a finalist for the HOF. He's one of the stronger candidates in the Senior group, but a lot of these older players (unfortunately) tend to get overlooked.
