That isn’t marker, it’s something inside the slab. You can see on the right side that whatever it is is casting a shadow meaning it’s not marker

I hope you are right. I got the card in hand and it looks like marker. I have tried vibrating the card to get it to move, and it has not budged.

Returning the card to SGC to have the detritus removed is an inconvenience alright, but sometimes mistakes happen. It is a nice looking Mays card though.

It leaves a shadow and is catching light change so it’s not a marker. It’s plastic. Bad quality control.

Agree with all previous comments - it is not marker - poor quality control.

That's what I was going to say. It would have to be extraordinarily thick ink to cast a shadow.

Am I missing something? I don't see any magic marker markings. I see what appears to be a long piece of black plastic stuck inside the holder though. Looks like a piece was shaved off the inner black liner and got left behind? Have you looked at that with a loupe? Am I looking at the right thing?

Whatever it is, it looks like it has some dimensionality to it. It casts a shadow and has light bouncing off of it in different directions. It looks like an object to me, not ink.

This is what I thought as well at first glance.

Yes, it's detritus in the slab. Send it back and they'll fix it, I'm sure.

I had the same thought. Definitely doesn't look like marker.

It's just wedged. I agree with others, poor quality control but probably not a mark.

I have to agree with everyone in saying that it doesn't look like marker and looks like a strip of plastic due to the shadows it casts and the way the light is reflected differently in different places. It's possible it's not moving when you tap on it because of the way the holder is sealed. Maybe it's just stuck in place?

I don’t think that’s a marker. It doesn’t appear flat. Probably a plastic piece from the apron. A headache, but SGC will probably fix the issue for you after a phone call or two.

Yep, definitely appears to be a piece of plastic. SGC should definitely fix this gratis. Please let us know what they respond with.

I agree Bobby, definitely detritus.

That is what people are saying but I have zero idea what that means. Has this happened before??? What causes it?

In this camp too Bobby, with the cast shadow this really seems to be one of two possibilities. Either a scrap object within the case, or possibly a mark on the outside of the case casting the shadow.

Send for a recasing.

It's not on the outside because Goof off did absolutely nothing to it.
