Default Anybody Want to Hazard a Guess as to % at the National:

1) Vintage/modern.
2) Collectors/flippers.
3) Under 40/over 40.
And any other observations you'd care to make.
Thanks!

Also not at National but saw a lot on Instagram and YouTube

My uneducated guess

1. 30% vintage 70% modern(on IG it was 90% modern shown)
2. 30% collectors and 70% flippers
3. 40% over 40 and 60 % under 40 ( on IG 80% or more of content by under 30 year olds)

25/75 where "vintage" is defined as pre-1980 and considering only visible material in display cases.

90/10, it's just that the 10% is more visible because they are buzzing around. Much of that 90% will buy cards if they think they are a good deal though.

70/30 if talking about paid admissions.

Just my guesses from this week.

Cheers,
Steve

I didn't go this year, but from watching all the videos, it's pretty much a majority of "shiny stuff". And, the regional & small shows are exactly the same proportions as the National, just less of everything than at the National.
So, the short version is the National has changed. It depends on your perspective if it's better, worse or the same as before the pandemic.

I will go purely by how crowded the aisles were in areas/rooms that were primarily vintage vs. new:
1) On Saturday it seemed to me that for vintage/new it was 50/50. On Friday I'd say it was 40% vintage/60% new.

2) For collectors/flippers I can't make a good guess as I wasn't present to hear enough stories at enough tables that would reveal enough info to go on.

3) On Friday it was probably 50/50 for under/over 40. On Saturday it was probably a little more skewed toward younger ages since more kids were in attendance that day, so probably 60/40 for under/over 40.

Tons of Vintage. Tons. I'd say about 40% of the show was vintage.

Tons of Kids. MANY tons. It was great to see. I saw a kid walking thru the lobby yelling at his mom on facetime saying "Mom I have the money in my account. Its just $300!" I laughed.

Lots of transactions. The hobby is strong and the show was great fun.
