Agree that it was most likely a contractor hired by Fritsch. Probably the same one that Card Collector's Company was hiring for their reprint sets as the card stock and quality is fairly similar.
Not surprised that no one at Fritsch had any clue. I doubt anyone answering the phone was there 34 years ago. You would have needed to ask Larry who he hired and that opportunity has sadly been long gone.
