Default Oakland A's and Brent Rooker

I don't know about anyone else following the A's this year, but if Brent Rooker was on the Red Sox, Yankees, name any other big league club, he would have been an All Star and his cards and memorabilia would be on fire!

Where's the love for Rooker, Butler and the other Athletic players! It's just like the A's and Oakland - gone into the ozone layer somewhere.

The Oakland A's are a very historic and prestigious franchise. It is an absolute tragedy what they are going through with the current owners.

Anybody have thoughts about Rooker and the A's? He is currently batting .298 (11th), 35 HR (8th), 97 RBIs (10th) and .959 OPS (8th).

Look at the company he is in with those statistics, and still never even gets a mention outside of Oakland - pathetic!

They have a handful of young guys that don't get praise nationally they are due thanks to the team's circumstances. Rooker and Lawrence Butler are having excellent seasons, Bleday seems to have finally figured it out, and Mason Miller is IMO one of the best relievers in baseball.

I usually get annoyed when people trash sports owners and League commissioners. Teams are a business vehicle and a commissioner is there to maximize the value and appeal of the league. John Fisher, however, deserves every ounce of vitriol that is sent in his direction. The A's are arguably a top 5 all-time baseball franchise and this POS has them on par with floundering XFL franchise.

Rooker is a nice story, having a very J.D. Martinez type season, but almost 30 year-old break-out DH's aren't going to get a lot of love on the card and memorabilia front, no matter what team they are on.

However, I can't for the life of me figure out how David Fry made the All-Star team as the backup DH to Yordan Alvarez, over Rooker.

Couldn't agree more with the John Fisher sentiment. Just horrible!

Thanks to both Dave and Steve for your opinion. The All-Star non-selection of Rooker was horrible.

I don't really follow the Athletics, but I do follow Rooker. Last night he went 3 for 5. His stats are now at .301 Avg (8th), 35 HR (7th), 99 RBIs (6th), and .963 OPS (6th).

That's in all of baseball!

I almost never invest in modern players, Rooker was the exception because of his performance at Mississippi State and being selected as the 2017 National Player of the Year.

So I purchased several of his cards in 2017, and continued acquiring them while he was struggling through the Twins organization - and while he struggled through the Padres - etc. I was about to give up on him and then he was given a chance with the Athletics - POW - he finally got a chance to prove his talent.

I wish the Athletics much success and also Rooker. I just wonder if he had been traded to the Yankees this summer how he would be looked at. Yankee fans have never shown much love to anyone that wasn't brought up as Yankee (think Maris, etc).

Here are just a couple of his cards I have.

Just an update on Brent Rooker as we are entering the final stages of this year's regular season.

Here are his primary stats as of today.

Average 301 - 7th
Home Runs 37 - 5th
RBIs 107 - 3rd
OPS .962 - 6th

I don't know about anyone else, but there are a lot of players in MLB and those stats are awesome.

Still - no love Rooker or the As. Unfortunate.
