Boys lets pack it in........ The 1919 White Sox are flipping in their graves!
If you are suggesting that the A.L. was somehow allowed to score two runs in the 9th so that MLB could roll out its new format then your comment is laughable.

ASG is and has been a clown show for years, they do not care about fans at all and it will get worse before it gets better. I also do not watch MLB anymore and have punted even my local MiLB club due to the fan experience being considerably less than acceptable. Speak up with your dollars!

The NFL has all but eliminated the Pro Bowl. It's obvious the powers that be want to 86 the All Star Game as well. $$$$$$$$$$$ is all that matters. Vince Lombardi said winning is everything. Wrong. $$$$$$$$$$$ is everything.

This board is largely populated by old men who want baseball to never change from their childhood dreams of being 10 years old. For years I’ve been reading here how baseball is dying, yet cable channels are clamoring to spend billions on this alleged “dying sport”. It’s like I am in an old folks home listening to a room of old men in various states of decline complaining that there hasn’t been a good move star since Humphrey Bogart died.

I will be at Citifield tonight enjoying this dying sport for another evening. The only issue is when I went to but tickets last night the stadium is about 98% sold out.

Change is one thing. Having a game end with a friendly pitcher serving up lollipops so his teammates can bash the ball over the fence is not baseball. Why don't they just put it on a tee? Actually, that would be like when I was a child.

Meet you halfway. It was an exhibition. Not a baseball game.

Yeah, I hate the fact the game ended with a Home Run Derby. I also despise Ghost runners and shoot outs in hockey.

....but to think the game was fixed just so they can have a Home Run Derby at the end is just silly. I believe the rule has been on the books for a few years, this is just the first time they were able to implement it.

This isn't exactly the 1st game to end in a tie after 9 innings.

Baseball has done a very good job to make the product more enjoyable. The biggest improvement being the pitch clock. I couldn't stand the 4 hour, nine inning games anymore. A ball game today is back to what it was in the 70's - about 2:40. I love watching baseball these days.

And I can still get in to watch the Tigers for less than $20. Can't do that with any other major sport.

If you don't like baseball you're just weird!

Apparently this was included in the last collective bargaining agreement in 2022 but never got any publicity until it actually happened. I agree that the idea the game was fixed to end in a tie is hard to believe. I initially posted that I wasn't a fan, but after thinking about it, I can live with it in the ASG. If they tried to do it for a regular season game, I would not be in favor. I can live with the ghost runner because that still requires a team to play some real baseball to score a run.

They don't want the game to go into extra innings due to injury risk and not wanting to have to "hold players back" just in case. Nobody wants a tie. So, this is as good a way as any, I guess. I'm just glad the outcome is no longer tied to who gets home field in the World Series...that was a terrible attempt to "make the game matter".

Personally, I think ties should just end like the ending of Mony Python and The Holy Grail...but to each their own...

The only reason I didn't hate having the ASG determine home field in the World Series is because it replaced having home field just alternate each year between National League and American League which was equally stupid. At least now it's based on which team has the best record.

I disagree that zombie runner-ball is real baseball. In baseball you have reach base before you can score...
