Can you post some pictures if you think you have some counterfeits being offered to you? I think the card stock, perforations, paper pasted over cardboard, etc mean very few counterfeits are produced of these cards. I would figure only Mantles would be faked.

In 1961, you could order most of those cards from the factory and they come perforated and the stock is much thinner than those cut from a box.
If that's what you are worried about, then that is your answer. As to Post Cereal fakes, I don't remember ever seeing or hearing about them but I suppose anythng is possible Regards Rich

I don't think I have ever run across a fake post cereal card. I often see where someone is selling a Jello version as a Post or a perforated card as hand cut. However, a counterfeit I don't remember ever coming across.
This thread needs a photo. Here is a card I personally cut from the box back in the day. I had absolutely no clue that one day I would discover it was one of the rarest Post cards out there. |

There is a guy on ebay that list reprinted Post cards. He does identify them as such listingbtgem as 2022 -1963 Post cereal card.
That doesn't mean a buyer might not try to resell them as authentic. |

The reason for the color discrepancies is: Torre was on 3 different boxes of cereal. Grape Nuts Flake 12 oz, Top 3 10 oz. and Sugar Coated Corn Flakes.
Post was concerned with the colors on the FRONT of the boxes. So, there are shading and color variations for the cards. Dan Mabey's book explain this in the Bragging Rights section of the book. GNF 12 oz - Pinkish face, dark brown eyes etc.. Orange flesh face on SCCF and so on....The cards on not fakes just the showing the tints of the boxes they were on.

A Mantle is the only fake I have seen. Not sure what it came from but the "card" was cut from what looked like a magazine advertisement glued to a piece of cereal box cardboard. Because it was really printed on a press it looked real until in hand.
