I'm probably not the best person to answer your question, because I only collect scored programs and I don't particularly care for autographs, but...

I believe you are asking if a signed program that can be pinpointed to a particular series, but not necessarily a particular game, could potentially be worth the same as a signed program from the particular game?

I think you already know the answer to your question.

Doug

PS - while I appreciate the 'value' of a major league debut program, an argument could be made that a major league first hit program has similar, or possibly greater, value.

Hi Doug,

I appreciate the reply on this. I know the value of the signed program would not fetch as much as scored debut program. I guess my question is would it be worth getting signed to make a profit? Seems like most people would only want the genuine scored debut program, so leaning towards not worth having them all signed and only the one for my PC.

Having it signed for your own collection seems like a great choice to me. It will never be worth less than what you paid for it, and you will never regret that it hasn't soared in value should you ever decide to sell it!

The combination of the name of the OP in the current conversation and another thread about tickets reminded me that I have this program, which I hope I haven't posted before, from Opening Day 1954

I got this one recently, but admittedly I almost passed on it. It was probably scored by a kid or someone unfamiliar with the names of the players, and apparently without any attempt to try to score the game the way most might have typically done it. In fact, every out is indicated by a "K." That's ironic because in this particular game, we had a 11-inning dual between Koufax and Bunning that resulted in 28 K's between them (Koufax had 16) before the relievers were called in for the 12th inning.

With this game, according to SABR, Koufax moved up on the all-time strikeout list to 10th passing Grove on the way, and it also gave him 200 K's for the 6th straight year. Lastly, it was also apparently the first time 2 pitchers met that had each thrown a perfect game before.

What first caught my eye was all the K's that were written in the scorecard. It prompted me to do some research, and when I found out what an interesting game this was, I decided to get this scorecard!

Now that card is scored much more accurately, Doug! I suspected you might have a card from that fantastic confrontation and maybe even a ticket as well!
