Rosemary grows like a weed out here; you can train shrubs into man-sized trees (takes 30 years...). We use it as ground cover. It doesn't need water and spreads like crazy. If you ever have the chance to meander down the California coast from Carmel on Highway 1, it is a beautiful drive and there are amazing stands of wild rosemary at virtually every scenic turnout between Carmel and Big Sur. We did it in June and every time we got out of the car the scent was overwhelming. We pulled a few sprigs and put them in the sun in the car to freshen it up as we drove. |
