I used to work with a young man from Somalia. He had immigrated here a few years prior to that event. When I casually mentioned to him in an elevator later that afternoon, (The bank Group I worked for shut down early that day, as many businesses did) what a terrible thing it was that happened in New York. He turned to me, and blankly said "The U.S. had it coming". Stunned, I walked out side to walk to my car, and there were three middle east looking men jumping up and down shouting for joy. My guess is that they weren't shouting for joy because one of them had won the lottery. So yes, there are many countries and people who hate us, yet still want to partake in all we have to offer. The logic escapes me... |
